So, should I get this phone in May or is it a bad idea???

if you arent upgrading till may.....i might would pass. i love this phone. battery life isnt that bad to me. taken off overnight charge at 7am. 45 mins of angry birds, couple phone calls with speaker phone. texting an emailing. some web browsing for 30 mins. friend kinda tinkered with for a few mins. got home at 6pm battery at 50%. played tons of angry birds. an just setting up some more things like widgets an layout, got some apps. got the 15% warning at 845

im not in a 4g area.
its about makin sure u dont have location, wifi, 100% screen brightness when not needed.

i love this phone, no regrets. but by may there will be more phones coming. incredible 2 is now in pipeline. ctia is monday. bionic is coming. sooo up to u but thats my lil 2cents

I have been keeping GPS on all day ... and I've been using the phone more than usual installing stuff, setting up my home screen, and generally messing around trying to drain the battery so I can get a sense of what the "worst case" battery life for me will be. 14h+ and still going.

So yeah, I don't know why so many people are having battery life issues. The phone is working great for me, except for one dead pixel that I had to intentionally hunt for to find. I'm not taking it back, though, for fear of picking up one of the ones that don't get good battery life for whatever reason.

That said, if you have until May, you might want to just compare it to a Bionic (which should come out around then) ... the dual core isn't a reason for getting the Bionic, but if you like the device more for some reason, then go for it. I love the TB, though... I feel it's a very, very good phone overall.

just to weigh in here....i'm not having battery issues either. I'm finding it to be quite adequate for my use and I don't foresee needing to charge midday. I took mine off the charger around 6:30 am and still had 90% when i got in the car at 11:30. Charged it in the car for maybe 20 min and went the rest of the day without going below 80%. I'm not a heavy user but i did a few texts, a few calls, some browsing and pandora in my car. Plus some more messing around with settings here and there. so probably moderate to light use.

There is no way to get an accurate reading on the batter after a day. You have to do at least 5 full cycles before you have a good representation. I found that to be he case with my droid incredible. If the battery isn't fulfilling your need, there will certainly be an extended battery available very soon, if not already. I love it and wouldn't tarde it for anything out there.

HTC batteries are generally interchangeable too as long as they fit behind the battery door. I was dissatisfied with the 1300mAh battery that came with my Incredible so I did some research on here and found that the 1500mAh battery for the Imigado (SP?) also fit behind my battery door and gave me the boost I needed to get through the day without the expense of an extended life battery. I believe i paid $15.95 for mine on eBay.
