So very disappointed in my LG G5...

Mod Note - Let's stay away from the "you're a sheep" / "he's a sheep" / "they're sheep" comments. No one is a sheep because they buy a device that fits their needs (regardless if it is the "popular" one or not).

My Android journey has been Moto, Moto, Moto, Samsung, Samsung, HTC, LG, LG

I just assume most people buy whatever appeals to them at the time and the fanboy/sheep label is what fanboys/sheep call each other.

I bought the G5, coming from a G3, because it was the most interesting to me. I have the two week return period to fall back on and if in 6 months I am not happy, I'll buy a different phone.

So far, I dig it though.
Right on the money.

The display light bleed is a very serious issue and is not forgivable for a premium flagship smartphone. Seems quite a widespread issue currently. LG needs to get its QC up to par with Samsung and HTC pronto in that regard.

If you are referring to light bleed on a dark room with a test app with the brightness set all the way up that's normal

Nope. Some of the G5 had terrible backlight bleed in normal conditions. For example, mine. Clearly visible at 50% brightness on the home screen /wallpaper in a bright room. I think mine was worse than most and from what I've read many people have got much better screens. But there is a batch of truly terrible ones circulating so it is a serious issue. Needless to say mine went straight back!

Well I have none of this light bleed issue. I keep my brightness at 80% most of the time. That's why too bright in a dark room. My v10 had the issue near the second screen. Had to turn it sideways to see it though. I like the G5 better.

Basically, I don't have a real preference for a phone. I don't always stick to one OEM since there's bound to be a phone that meets my needs if the next phone from the OEM that made my current phone doesn't meet my needs. Here's my device history.

Nexus One --> Samsung Galaxy S2 --> Samsung Galaxy S3 --> HTC One (M7) --> LG G3 --> LG G4 --> Samsung Galaxy Note 6?

I don't stick with one brand for long. I left the Nexus line because later devices didn't have microSD card support. I left Samsung because their software layer was just unbearable and a performance mess at the time. I left HTC because the camera wasn't up to snuff and I left LG because the quality issues with the G4's hardware was just puzzling to me.

That might sound negative, but actually, those are only MY reasons why I left these OEMs and it's based on my usage pattern. I want a phone with expandable storage, great performance, a superb camera, all while being a reliable device. In fact, here are the reasons why I used phones from those OEMs.

I used the Nexus because as an Android newcomer, I'd like to see how Android by itself performs. I then went to Samsung to experience Android skins and experiment with evolving smartphone hardware. I went with HTC because they were really making a name for themselves in terms of build quality and sound. I then went with LG because they seem to be pretty serious about catering towards power-users.

And I don't leave them for very long. In fact, I'm returning to Samsung because they addressed the performance issues, bloatware and other issues I had starting with the S6 and the subsequent Note 5 and especially the S7 refined them to the point where I'm actually considering returning to them. If HTC puts a great camera on the 10 and LG ups their quality-control on the V10 successor and the G6, I'll likely be going back to either one of them in the future.

Yes I'm crazy.

But I see that when people use more OEMS they have a better knowledge of what companies are doing wrong and what they're doing right. And they are more tolerant towards people who prefer other than what they are using.

And if you're wondering. The best experience I had was with the HTC one M8 and the xperia Z3. I don't know why. But they have been my favourite. Although the Galaxy S6 has been good too.

HTC Droid DNA (I think that's how it was called)
LG G Flex (best battery life phone ever)

I'm certain I have left out at least 10 devices that I can't remember. I use everything, IOS, Windows phones and of course Android. I can understand someone sticking to one OS because of their needs (i.e sticking with IOS because of the apps and imessage and the rest of family and friends being on the same platform) but besides iOS, I also don't know why someone would stick to one OEM only when they are so many great choices out there. I wonder if someone can beat my list . Mind you some of these devices I have owned more than 5 times like the HTC ONE M8. I'm waiting for the HTC 10 to be release to decide whether I'll try it or the G5 but it'll be most likely the HTC.

had me scratching my head a little on your size comparisons as i have both... just had to post a picture of the phablet (s7e) next to the smaller g5....??

Oh yeah the s7 edge is soo much larger. How can you not see that Bahahaha

Well it all depends ...for me I left samsung and went to lg for the 1st time for G4 and totally loved the device...I had switched from note 4...i always loved the edge phones by samsung...but s6 edge dint get me back...I was soo looking forward to G5 but was not that impressed by it and then the thing of modular design and wear n tear in the long run...S7 edge got back lot of features and iam love with it...just purchased the samsung S7 edge gold...everyone has positive to say about the phone...and G5 has mixed reviews...thou here in india samsung has better resale value than lg...soo if s7 edge doesn't keep me happy I will sell it and buy g5... Ps: G5 still not launched here in india... Will wait to see the pricing...

The problem for many people trying to decide between Samsung S7E or S7 vs G5 is there is a size difference at both ends. S7E is too large for people to hold that have smaller hands and too much of a phablet for my taste. The S7 screen size is too small. For my needs the G5 is just right but it all depends on what you like.

Odd, I saw a video of a g5 and edge being held side by side and they actually looked to me about the same exact size.

Thanks for your input, guess I'll keep using my G4 until the next iteration of the V10 comes out.

I need help. I bought 2pcs of tempered glass to cover the screen but the one big issue I am facing is, it doesn't cover all of it. I mean, at the bottom right-hand corner, there is a bubble that I can't get rid of. I tried everything to flatten it out - searched youtube maybe they have solutions but sad, none. So, if anyone have the same issue and solved it - I'd like to know how you did it because both of the glass I bought have the same probs. Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Contact the seller. They might semd you replacement. Especially with lifetime replacement. I had it once when i got this one, turns out the guy doesnt know how to install it correctly. Try installing from bottom up. From the bottom edge of the phone screen glass. But if it doesnt stick, you ask for replacement.

Hey..! I have bad news...

I have a tempered glass screen protector on my G5 and have the same issue. Except I also have a bubble at the top to go all with the one on the bottom.

It's annoying but I'm leaving it on anyway. I had a PET protector on that was perfect but still prefer the glass one... Even with the bubble.

You most likely won't get rid of the bubbles because the screen is ever so slightly "not flat" due to the curvature top and bottom.

I tried more than one and they're all the same because of this.

Thank you all for the suggestions/help. I as now, I don't have glass protector. I went to my service provider and asked if they can remedy the problem. They installed Zagg and still the same. Advised me to replace it but I declined because 50/50 chance it will have the same issue. I guess there are phone screens warp or they missed quality checking on some phones or maybe some corporate conspiracy [kidding]. Anyway, thank you gain.

I'm shopping for a phone and when comparing it to the Galaxy S6, it out does it in almost every major area with the exception of design. But I'm not paying for the look of the damn thing (I think it looks fine btw), I'm paying for good pictures, plus it's the only phone in it's class with a removable battery. Having a non-removable battery is a deal breaker for me. So why am I seeing so many people calling this phone disappointing? I've done a ton of research and the G5's specs are outstanding and the pictures look great. Is Samsung paying trolls to write bad reviews, because I just don't get it. I'm going with an older (2015-2016) phone and so far the contenders are Experia Z, S6, and G5. The only thing keeping from jumping on the G5 is all the bad reviews, but there are just as many good reviews, so I'm at a loss.
