So which applications do you guys use for photos on this phone? The stock app or Google Photos? Which and why?

Both. I use the stock gallery simply for ease of use. Photos, being online storage, I use only to verify what's been uploaded and delete what I don't want to save.

I use the Gallery app. Haven't tested the photos app much

I use both. Gallery app for photos I dont backup. Photo app for photos I do back up

I use the Google Photos app, never really been a fan of the gallery app. I think no matter what phone I have, I'll always use the Google Photos app as I have over 12,000 photos backed up I back up the original file size and it counts towards my storage space.

I use the high-quality setting. I don't notice a difference and it doesn't count towards my Drive storage.

I use the both. I also use both Google Photos and OneDrive for backup. High quality in Google Photos and full resolution in OneDrive, since I have free Google Drive and 1 TB in OneDrive with my Office 365 subscription.
