Considering there's no L or R on them. It's not so important but I'd like the proper sounds to go into the correct ear.

I'm curious. How do you decide what is the proper sound for the correct ear?

Stereo sound is made intentionally for left and right channels. That's why ear buds are labeled L and R. That's like putting a rear channel in front on a home system. When music pans left to right it's made to properly distribute sound. You can't just choose what ear an ear bud goes into. I mean you can but you understand what I'm saying.

If you have the earbuds that came with the AT&T version the R is the bud with the mic and red button.

Yes thank you I just looked in better light and the buds have very light writing on it.

I understood the reasoning but what is very seldom pointed out is, is the fact the sound source is in front of you implied. To the average listener it would not make a big difference. Just saying.

I can understand the reasoning for video, where any spatial seperation might have a context, but for music? Any pronounced and deliberate seperation in stereo or multi channel recordings relies on the fact that those channels are reproduced from physically distant points, ie 5.1 channel recordings need to have the 5 speakers placed in the correct orientation and at a suitable distance from each other, stereo speakers should be placed as far apart as possible. If not, then the brain is not able to make the distinction, using headphones or the relatively close together built in speakers on a phone negates all but the most pronounced effects. So in short, it don't matter.

I put a knot in my left ear bud so I don't have to look. Tip I got twitter from lifehacker.
