Despite my concerns re the AOD Yesterday motivated by the pre order special offer I decided to take a punt. I was from earlier this year all set to buy the 3XL, surely they would nail it 3rd time? Then I saw it and learnt of its subsequent limitations. The M20 pro when announced was almost my perfect device but with the AOD being quite important to me I was hesitant.

It arrived today (twilight version) and initial impressions were that it is an S9 plus with a notch! LOVE the colour but otherwise it looks and feels so similar to the Samsung. There is enough difference though to imo make it a better option and I just really hope that that Huawei sort the AOD or maybe that 4200 ma battery means I can use something like glance plus and not take a real world hit on battery life vs other phones.

Too early for any other comments, will report back for anybody who is interested

Does it use stock Android emojis? also how smooth is the scrolling? the software is the main thing holding me back with this phone. I love the p20 pro but the scrolling was so janky at times.

Mines waiting at home for me.. Will be finishing work soon so not to long to wait! I too was waiting for the Pixel 3xl but in my opinion it wasn't much of and upgrade from my 2xl. I've been using a P20 Pro for the last 6 weeks or so and have been highly impressed. I had a 2nd upgrade due plus the great pre order deal in the UK sealed it for me. I'm really looking forward to this handset

Scrolling seems super smooth, even the BB hub is tolerable speed wise.

The BB hub....are you able to get different notification colors and sounds for emails and texts?

I can honestly say I never expected you to own another Huawei device after last time lol. There's just something about them that drags you back. I've been very vocal about my Mate 10 Pro frustrations in here too swearing I was done with them then they really improved the phone in a single update and I'm about to order the Mate 20 Pro too

I know and did find the 10 pro to be a frustrating phone. Honestly though it is only because Google dropped the ball with the 3XL, I was nailed on to order one of them until I saw it and what it offered. I am also through with Samsung for a number of reasons and whilst waiting for the OP6T was an option OP usually have just 1 or 2 too many compromises even if they are great value. So Huawei could become my droid of choice this year.


Re the 20 pro I am surprised as to how compact it feels too, might dry a 3rd party AOD app today and see how they work.

Got mine yesterday and been playing around with it since last night.

I've managed to stop magazine unlock and can't get it started again? Any ideas? I've repeatedly gone into the settings but still not working properly.
Other than that...
Fingerprint sensor is good (not as fast as traditional but I knew that from reviews). It is fast enough though.
I too was expecting case in the box so am going to have to be very careful next few days until I get one!
Will test the camera out later today as I'm off to watch some football.

Yes, got the watch and wireless charging pad. I pre-ordered on Thursday as if I’d waited till Friday the offer was over.

Loving the twilight colour too. Was tempted by the textured ones but the twilight is just so nice!

You can customise the colours for email accounts in the hub but not sms. I have set WhatsApp to green (WhatsApp settings not hub) so sms will be white, WhatsApp green and emails blue.

The BB keyboard is only available on BB devices so cannot help with that.

It'll work fine. I installed it from the Blackberry Hub a few months back on the Mate 10 Pro and it worked great. I just didn't like the keyboard so replaced it with SwiftKey again but defo works
