So...Who Has One?

I got the HTC Vivid at the beginning of the month and returned it for this on Thursday. The Vivid just never felt right in my hand and when it came to rooting, RAM usage, SMS chronological order, etc., I just couldn't keep it. After 2 days with the Nitro, I don't quite see the battery complaints some have had and feel like the build quality is better than the Vivid (e.g. that stupid battery door). I kinda miss the notification LED, but there were so many problems I had with the Vivid that eclipsed that small perk. Plus, this screen is amazeballs and you can change the resolution size of apps to fit the screen. This is the best Christmas present I've ever bought myself.

Question: I rooted it last night and am having trouble disabling the tethering plan check. Has anyone succeeded in this yet?

hello. I just this forum today in order to talk about this phone.

I have had the nitro for 3 days. I have struggled for a month on what phone to get. really, it came down to the screen on this phone. however, I am struggling with my choice because the phone has a number of bugs.

First of all, as I am typing this, I am getting the error message "NO CONNECTION" when I try to go the android market...even though I am currently connected to the wifi network. what does this mean?

when I first got the phone, I tried downloading angry birds, and the phone froze then when I turned it off and turned it back on, it made a sound like a burglar alarm. ????what the helll??? had to turn it off and then it was okay and was able to download.

haven't had a chance yet to download many apps. So far, I like the screen but the browsing experience doesn't seem as crisp and as smooth as my brothers iphone.

I also cannot believe that the new phones haven't gotten the hint that a dedicated camera button would be nice. they put these great cameras in their phones and then make you tap the screen to take a photo..what is that about?

the battery doesn't seem that great. I haven't had another android phone to compare it to, but it seems the battery is half gone by lunch time. and connecting the phone to a computer via the usb doesn't seem to work...it seems to only really charge when it's plugged into the wall.

will keep you informed. as it stands right now, it is 50/50. by the way, was looking at the iphone 4s, skyrocket and the HTC vivid.

I have more to add.

the phone's usb connection is on top....I hate that...I think that you can forget ever getting a docking station like an iphone...not with it on top and not the bottom. Also, maybe I am being petty..but $250 and the phone does not come with earphones! cheap...cheap..LG!

I'm kinda with you on the headphones. When I got the Captivate last year, I was surprised at how good the earbuds Samsung provided were and it wasn't even touted as a multimedia powerhouse. In the case of this phone, it's an omission that is pretty annoying, but at least they're not like Apple and give the same craptacular earbuds with each device. I guess sometimes it's better not to do something at all than to do something half-assed and cheaply.

Earlier you mentioned the lack of a camera button and considering the right side of the phone is pristine and buttonless, it's not like LG didn't have space for it.

thanks for the reply washrob78. got headphones. it seems the connection of the usb to the computer works IF you use the LG usb. it seems a generic usb does not quite fit, so the connection wasn't complete. now the phone is charging fine off the computer.

liking the phone better. I do want to say a positive about the phone...it feels very light in the pocket. the iphone feels much heavier..maybe some will take that as a good thing. i also had bought this phone because I love the textured back..it helps you to not lose your grip on the phone.

i downloaded a fm app but it didn't work...I did like the fact that the HTC vivid had a built in fm radio..not an app, a radio. does anyone have any radio apps that actual pick up stations (not some pandora-like app, but an actual tuner) ?

Earbuds? Really, that is a deciding factor? First of all, smartphones of today can't compete with purpose built mp3 players(like Cowon). As the earbuds they give in all phones suck. To the average music listener they are fine...but for real music listening try some Westone or high grade Shure earbuds, those are proper.

I still love the phone...sure it has a few problems, but I can over look those things.

I just got the LG Nitro and have a question. It appears that when I turn off the Wi-Fi I also drop my 4G connection. Am I missing a setting?

I noticed that LTE connection only gets dropped during a phone call. Switches back to regular 4G.

As far as lag. Once you root it, hard reset (different from factory reset) and put a launcher like ADW, there is virtually no lag. It works juat as well as my Atrix 4G before. Plus the UI looks much nicer.
