Soft button backlight

Apoligies in advance, BB Storm 1 convert and noobie here, tried searching and could not find answer.

On my Incredible, the 4 soft buttons are only backlit sometimes. Can't figure out what turns them on, but they do come on sometimes.

I'm sure I'm missing a configuration option somewhere, but can any smart person help me out?

Could it be ambient light sensitive, like when you have your screen brightness set on auto? It probably comes on when it's too dark to see them without the LEDs, and turns off when there's sufficient ambient light to save on battery power.

Thanks Roscko, you are right!

When I moved the phone to a darker location the buttons light. Stays that way until the phone automatically locks.

Just hard for my eyes to see the printed labels on the button without the backlight. Think I'll just have to get used to it.

I don't see any settings to allow the button backlight to be set on permananetly as seperate from the overall display level.
