If any of you are experiencing the same issue I was with the soft buttons at the bottom sometimes not registering a tap, try this:

Instead of taping the soft buttons, down-swipe them. just place your finger or thumb on the button, and instead of lifting it up, just swipe it down off the edge of the phone, as you were rubbing off a piece of dust or something. I started this last night with the soft buttons, and not once has the phone failed to register the touch.

Not a big thing, but might save some frustration.

It still takes more of a press than I'm wanting to make - I'm using a pretty light touch on the screen, but the same touch on the buttons isn't enough. Just a matter of getting used to it I guess.

Figured this out when I was testing out the vibrant, makes a world of difference to "swipe" the buttons instead of tryining to tap them....tap them...TAP.
:P

Yeah. You have to push them a little harder then the normal screen, with the swipe. Works like a charm. Took time for me to figure it out also, but it was bound to happen lol

Thanks for this, was getting a bit frustrated myself :)

Only curious, what seems to be everyones least sensitive buttons? The Menu and Search buttons seem to be as responsive as the screen itself.

Glad I found this thread....this was the very reason I was searching the internet. I thought it was my phone or the screen protector. I cut the bottom off of the screen protector so it doesn't cover the buttons and that helped but didn't solve. I'll have to try the swiping trick after I get off of work and see if that helps...I hope so!

For me I usually have no trouble with the soft buttons anymore.

I think the reason why swiping down on them works is because ultimately your finger remains on teh utton longer. The soft buttons are not as responsive as the touch screen, so barely tapping them is not quite enough.
I have found the same good results when I lightly touch the soft buttons, and hold it there until they illuminate, then remove my finger. It is a little less than a second, but the touch registers just about every time.

Btw, I'm over at the Epic forums cause I've already preordered one, but I wanted to thank you for the tip.
