soft reset x without removing batteey

Hi guys was wondering is there a way to.do a soft reset on the x without removing the battery?
By powering off the.unit does that do it?
Problem.is I boughtr a hardshell case that I can't get off in the event that I need to do a reset?
Whatdo I do?
Is there se in the market that does this?
I tries quickboot (I think that's the name) but my x isn't rooted whatever that means so that wont work...

Shutting it off via the power button does what you want.

The app quick reboot simulates rebooting...

No this isn't possible for a unrooted device, but if the device is rooted there is a number of apps located on the market.. Device has to be rooted to use.
