I've also seen conflicting tech reviews etc on how the fps works on different works in practice.

Personally as a rule of thumb, no pun intended, I always scan the same fingerprint two or three times which in my opinion greatly improves the experience.

I actually had a different experience on a Sony z5c. Adding multiple scans of the same fingerprint confused it and I had trouble using it. When I limited it to one scan per finger, it worked flawlessly.
