Whether it is important to update software of phone?

Security-wise, yes. That's the part of the update you should care about the most. Feature-wise, it's a toss. Some people like the new stuff, some don't (because sometimes these updates remove features or move options around). But since you can't get security updates without the OS updates, well... you gotta take the whole package.

Going from 5.0.1 to 8.0 was a shock! But you get used to it. Going from 8 to 9, then to 10, wasn't bad. (But, then, they had to drag me, kicking and screaming, from DOS to Windows. I liked my command line. [cmd isn't the same thing.])
