Think they want you to do it over a strong secure wifi signal.
So you don[']t get any corrupt data on download.

(1) They don't check whether the WiFi network has been secured.

(2) Any communication channel is secure if the communication is properly encrypted end-to-end.

(3) A cryptographic checksum verifies that the bits you receive are identical to the bits that were transmitted. Your phone won't install new firmware unless the checksum proves the data's integrity.

Not true I can update on mobile data, I have the sprint note 10 plus and I updated the security patch at work. No wifi

I used to help a computer builder man.
He built computers. Installed software and did networking for business and people.

He has stated several times.
Its a cleaner install if you do updates over a Internet.

Its your phone.
Do it however you want.

That does not mean your connection is encrypted. That just means that not anybody can connect to your network. Unless you are running a VPN your data is not encrypted and can be read by your ISP.
