Soli chip apparently stopped working

Phone was working as usual most of the day. Then noticed black screen even as I reached for the phone. Restarted, charged, checked the setting, done everything short of factory refresh. Soli seems to be down.

What about Motion Sense gestures, like when you're playing music? Are those gone as well?

You try safe mode ?
There a update out today maybe check see if it works with new update.

Is the screen doing anything at all, trying to unlock? There is a long list of people in the Google bug list experiencing the "clean your screen ..." issue where face unlock just stops working. But it sounds like your issue is different & worse.
