Solution for MMS Problem on WiFi - T-Mobile / evolveSMS / WiFi / MMS

Some have encountered a problem sending and receiving MMS while on WiFi, because the phone, or SMS app, or whatever tries to use the WiFi for data to send it. Since the Nexus 5 has no WiFi calling, it cannot use the data for MMS, but it won't connect to the radio data to send.

I found the solution in the evolveSMS app: Settings -> MMS Settings -> Preset User Agents -> Nexus 5 (change from Default Android).

MMS now send even if you're on WiFi.

Mine too. Glad I found this solution. Does the problem still exist with other messaging apps with T-Mobile and the Nexus 5?

Right but if you have WiFi on, it sometimes tries to use the WiFi and won't utilize mobile data, and errors out. Do you mean you turn WiFi off? Yes that's a solution, but a pain. Did you try my solution?

I usually have WiFi turned off, so I haven't tried that yet. I just pull down the notification bar and turn data on. It's not a pain, but I'm about to try your solution now. My old SMS app had a fix for T-Mobile too. I think it was either 8sms or chomp SMS.

Textra has a solution to this MMS Wi-Fi issue if you go into the setting and look in the MMS problems section there.

Also, Textra just upgraded to Androids new Material Design standard which improved the looks and colors that just very good now.

Their "solution" temporarily disables WiFi to send an MMS. Their "solution" is not a solution.

Unfortunately, that solution did not work for me...or at least permanently. It was working fine for me as I was able to send several MMS but then suddenly on my Note 4 (stock non-root) stopped working. It does not matter whether I was on Wi-Fi or not and my Wi-Fi is always off when I'm not at home. I don't know why it was working before and not now, however I wonder if the Wi-Fi calling feature is interfering. I read in similar situations even with Wi-Fi turned off, Wi-Fi calling feature turned on can interfere. Admittingly, I have not tried turning this off yet.
I switched over to 8SMS and it works with no problems. I tried copying the settings found in 8SMS over to EvolveSMS but it still fails. Guess I'll be using 8SMS until I find something that works permanently for me. I've tried so many different ways to get this going but...no dice.

I also use evolve sms. I now have a nexus 6p will this also work on this device to get mms over wifi on the 6P? Right now since I got this mms only comes through on mobile network. I have switched it to nexus 5 in the setting on evolve sms and will see what happens. Update. Changing the mms settign to nexus 5 did not work. OH BTW I am on verizon.

Currently on T-Mobile network with 6P and when I try to send MMS the photos turn red but nothing gets sent. It shows if as being sent but it never goes through. Now I'm not using wifi network to send these. Just cell network. On the list of phones no 6P is listed.
