[SOLVED] help needed, replaced build.prop & phone won't start up

Re: help needed, replaced build.prop and phone won't start up now

Nothing.... If I only could get a recovery system that has ADB capabilities or can read from the external storage this would be a piece of cake...

dang, and just to make sure, you tried running the shell command (adb push) with the phone connected just for kicks right? (and you are seeing an error from that?) Sorry if that's really a stupid question...

Correct. I get the error "error: device not found". Still trying throughout the day as I try to do real work as well. I will let you know what I come across if anything.

if I think of something, I'll be sure to post it up

have you went in and mounted everything while in recovery, system and everything else? I think it should be under advanced menu area.

zharris24, any luck?

Not so far. It was a long day at work. Just now got to sit down and really jump into this now. I can not get any ADB connection. I have tried Google USB drivers, a microsoft MTP driver, reinstalled android sdk along with Kiev. Nada. If only there was a way to turn a nandroid backup into a Odin .tar compatible file. I think that is the only way I will be able to communicate with my phone....

Done this and about every other option in CWM to try to get it to be able to be used by ADB.... My computer recognizes it as a "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device" and a "Samsung Mobile MTP Device" in Device Manager, however I still can't ADB to it...

Do you have insurance on the phone?

If I did, id toss it in a lake and claim lost phone and pay the deduct, so I could start enjoying a phone that I should be

Re: help needed, replaced build.prop and phone won't start up now

So I am getting closer! I FINALLY got adb access. I downloading Kies so that it gave me all of Samsung's mobile drivers. With my phone unplugged, I booted it into recovery mode. I did a factory reset, formatted everything, wiped everything. Then I rebooted into recovery mode after doing this. Then I plugged my phone it. Within device manager I saw "Samsung_Android_SPH-L710" there with a yellow exclamation point by it. I right clicked on this device and selected "Update Driver", then I chose "Browse my computer for driver", and then chose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". Now within this list I saw "Samsung Android ADB Interface". I selected this and BAM!, it installed correctly and now I can adb into my phone! Now let's see if I can get this push to work and then finally a restore! More details to come...

YES!!! So do you think it was the factory reset/format that got you to this point??
Please let us know it worked!!

No, it wasn't as I did that multiple time to no avail. It was a driver error. For some reason my computer never installed the Samsung ADB interface driver for my phone. I had to read blog after blog before I came across one that told me if I download Kies, I could manually select the ADB interface. So I did and all is well in the adb world...now to get my files pushed.

GREAT!!!! That's awesome man, looks like we have two positive outcomes! :D:D:D

Thanks, but you can bet that I will never do anything without a recovery backup ever again! Lesson learned!

And you know what? Now you both know quite a lot about this whole process. Sometimes that's the most effective way to learn ;).

If I had a dollar for every time I thought I bricked my DINC I'd be a rich, rich man!
