[SOLVED] Phone Bluetooth connection playing up

Hi all, recently my Bluetooth on my OnePlus 7t can't hold connection with certain devices. For example when I connect my phone to my hi FI system after a few seconds it will cut out, and it does the same for a mobile speaker. Other phones work fine with these devices.

So I thought, Bluetooth must just be knackered on my phone, but I can connect to my laptop and even my headphones normally, no problems.

This started a few weeks ago, and I don't get any major updates anymore. I've done the basics, restarted my phone, reset Bluetooth and WiFi settings, forgot the device. But I really don't get why it will hold connection normally with only certain devices ?

I've had my phones now for a few years.

Welcome to Android Central! When the connection cuts out for those devices, check to see if some other device (like your headphones) has connected without you wanting them to. I'm wondering if something is out-competing the hi-fi for the connection.

wifi networks, microwave ovens, fluorescent lights and walls can interfere bluetooth connection and make it cut

I tested it again with all other devices with Bluetooth off, and still the same. On my hi FI if a device connects it displays it, but when my phone cuts out, it doesn't display anything so I don't think anything else is competing with connection. Again weird how this so far is only happening with my LG hi FI and LG mobile speaker

Does the problem also happen in Safe Mode?

I've never heard of this. Just tried it out thanks. And the Bluetooth works fine with everything in safe mode, but after going back to normal mode, it plays up again.

So what's this ? A certain app is not allowing this ? Or maybe something I've downloaded from Google, not necessarily harmful, but rather disruptive ?

It could be anything that you've installed that wasn't preinstalled on the phone. Narrowing down the culprit can be tricky, if there are no initial suspicions. Try going to the Permission Manager (search for it in your system settings, since the menu location can differ depending on the manufacturer) and look for the Nearby Devices permission. You can start with those apps, uninstalling them one by one (or you could also turn off that permission for those apps as well, which might achieve the same thing).

Ok, I'll have a good look into this now, cheers

I think that's it man. It was my beats app, even though the headphones are off, beats just doesn't like it. So when I turned off allow for nearby devices, it works fine. The only annoying thing is if I did want to connect to my hi FI I need to turn this nearby selves feature off every time the hi FI is turned off, but it only takes a few seconds.

But to be fair, I don't think I even need the beats app, as it doesn't really do anything, I can do everything manually on the headphones anyway. Thanks a lot.

Great, glad you figured it out! I would also send feedback to the Beats app devs -- I think this is important stuff for them to be aware of.
Might have to do that. Thanks so much again.
