[SOLVED] Problem Restoring Stock & Unrooting

I started off like I have read, you run 'fastboot oem lock' and then add the PG86IMG.zip to the sdcard and load it. However, it didn't load the zip file and I am stuck in HBOOT not even allowed to reboot into OS. I also tried the RUU.exe method but since it won't boot into the OS that is a moot point. Any ideas how I can get this back to fully unrooted and restocked?

literally just tried to unroot to apply 2.17 update myself and am in the same situation where the phone is stuck in hboot. Im on hboot 1.5 by the way. im awaiting others to offer advice on this

Okay, the easiest way I found, finally after working on this for last week is to:

1. Extract the 'recovery_signed.img' from stock rom zip and put in 'platform-tools' folder.
2. Run from command line 'fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img' while phone is in Fastboot USB.
3. Copy signed stock rom to SDCard, renaming it 'PG86IMG.zip'
4. Run command 'fastboot oem lock' from Fastboot USB.
5. Charge the phone allowing it to get at least 30% of the battery charged, if not done so already.
6. Reboot into bootloader and allow the relocked system to apply the stock rom.

I was banging my head for like a week, I tried to use a rom that was 2.17 when I was on 2.08 and I started breaking things and flashing 2.17 kernals. nedless to say it got messy. using a command prompt I tried to get into fastboot usb and relocked my phone and ran a ruu_shooter_s_sprint_wwe_2.08 exe file on my pc when it was in this state and it said I already had firmware 2,17 on unit do I want to downgrade it to2.08 whicjh I did so I could use soprint to update to 2.17 properly then go to custome rom. It always errored out, finally i found an ruu 2.17 "RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00.1216_NV_NV_spcs_1.42_release_233304_signed" with that file it just flashed my phone to 2.17 and I was able to unlock my phone again but with hboot1.5 s is stil on. I couldnt get clockwork mod back on it easilt but luckily teamwin has twrp 2,0 which is like clockword mod but works decent with 1.5 followed instructions and installed that then I went into it installed meanrom which had superuser rights and reinstalled titanium and used it to recovery my rom manager and used that to push clockwordmod to my phone so know Im on 217 rooted and Im loving the new rom.

I recently attempted to root my new Evo 3D.. using HTCEVOHACKS(hboot 1.5). I didn't root it correctly and whenever I try to use an app that requires a root it says my kernals are messed up, or I am incorrectly rooted. I want to COMPLETELY unroot my evo 3d and start over again. I used the RUU Reset Wizard and it set my phone back to default...but the background(homescreen display &carousel display) is still the same as it was when I incorrectly rooted it. Please give me step by step instructions on how to fix my incorrect hboot 1.5 root, or step by step instructions on how to Completely reset my phone. Thanks
