[SOLVED] where did I go wrong?

You can try using the voice dialer workaround.

Press the Voice Command/Voice Dialer button on the right sight (next to the camera button)

When it brings up the Voice Dialer, say "Sprint ID" and there are some options you can choose, I forget exactly which.

You could also update to ZVD software, where they allow you to easily bypass Sprint ID.

You can also root your phone and remove Sprint ID. Only ZV9 and below are directly rootable.

I would actually suggest the last option of removing Sprint ID, but you'll need to do some reading.

doing this, trying to connect to my wifi... not working yet... phone is not activated and will not connect to any of my wifi access points...

so I dunno wtf

On the welcome screen, you should have the option to setup a wireless network by hitting the menu button...

On VD, I couldn't bypass the ID screen, I HAD to download one before moving on, and Sprint was down on data atm, so yea...

If you can't get around it, you may have to end up rooting it....

I'm pretty sure on ZVD the added a skip option for the Sprint ID installation. I used it multiple times.

It is even in the ZVD release notes:

LS670ZVD 3/15/2011 This update removes requirement to download a Sprint ID Pack to complete phone activation.

I have connected the optimus to WiFi prior to activation. It does work.

Press the Voice Dialer as above and say "WiFi Settings"

Thanks guys got this, rooted the phone with z4root, got a recovery installed, trying to do a rom, but have to update to vd but my comp is not detecting my phone....

my main comp is running ubuntu

messing with phone on a comp running vista sp2

I installed phone tools from lg along with

LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497CA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0.msi

LGSmartPhone_ModemlinkDUNDrive_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0.exe

still no luck even with reboot... phone says it is charging... so it has to be a driver issue

I am actively monitoring this thread as well as searching my @$$ off so thanks in advance for help. I really want to get this phone working so I can switch it over to cricket today or tomorrow.

Update: just installed "LGUnitedMobileDriver_S498CA21_WHQL_ML_Ver_2.1.exe" no luck either

Update: just installed "LG _USB _Drivers_All_4.9.7" no luck either

A lot of time its a driver signature enforcement issue (on vista and up)

even with compatibility mode - the drivers need signed... adb is an unsigned driver by windows, however, there is a driver located somewhere on these forums that may work - when i find it i'll link...

edit: its somewhere here....

i got nothing..... still will not pick up this phone.....

is it because it is unactivated?

I am at a loss here...

Being inactivated would have no effect on the ability to connect to PC

Swyped from my g-breaded optimus prime.

If you dont need a custom rom......

You have gotten wifi to work and now have a custom recovery and rooted, you can use the voice dialer to get to the market and get titanium backup - using this you can remove all the sprint apps and stay on the stock rom and get the phone to work as you want.

Ryan.

EDIT*: sorry missed the part where you want to move the phone off of sprint.

WOOHOO It was the F'ing cable...

got the LG cable that came in the box from my friend i got the phone from.

so now off to follow the guide and mess with the phone.

ok now upgraded with lg phone tools to android 2.2.2
baseband ls670mvd_60401001
build# zvd.41b2924e
SW version ls670zvd

lets see if I can get nameless rom to work shall we?

ok I got root, installed custom recovery and did a nand backup...

went to lg phone tool and updated to VD...

Now I lost root and dunno wtf to do next.

I was following http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...oting-software-version-ls670zvd-outdated.html

in part two step 4

i issue the command adb reboot recovry in windows after i download my rom?

should I follow this guid now since I am in VD on a optimus S with no root?

my breif version, but i suggest you read the thread of the ROM you plan to flash and the one below:

download the rom, and put it onto your SD card.

reboot into recovery (pretty sure all are the same, turn off the phone, restart it but hold down the Home key + down button on volume + power button, release once you see the LG logo)

wipe user data (please read the thread to see which data to wipe)

flash ROM from the SD card

depending on which custom recovery you have i would follow the directions starting on part 1 of this before doing anything

http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...oting-software-version-ls670zvd-outdated.html

but it says it needs root and I lost root... or does that not matter since I already installed the recovery console?

got it nameless V1 installed and noiq agent...

But I have no sound..... I dunno wtf I noticed it before I wiped the phone and now after flashing it persists...

Samething happened to me. just go into settings/sounds and a pick sounds for your ringer/alerts

i think by default it keeps phone on silent. no need to re-flash or anything
