(Solved)Why suddenly can I not text a photo straight from the gallery to only one of my many contacts?

No problem texting a photograph from the Gallery to any of my other contacts.
But recently, to get a photo to ONE of my contacts, I must go to the page that I text to him and press the little Gallery icon which takes me to the Gallery, and then I check the photo(s) and press SEND.
Also, this contact no longer receives a group text from me; I must send his text directly from me to him alone.
Can someone please advise what is causing this?

Sounds like an issue with MMS. Has anything changed with the contact recently (i.e. going from iPhone to Android, new phone, new carrier, etc.)? Have you tried starting a new group/thread and seeing if that works? Or making sure that the contact info you have is correct (updated phone number, etc.)?

Thank you for answering---Truth is that this contact is my husband of 63 years and I set up his Galaxy S24 Ultra so I can vouch that his phone stuff hasn't been changed :) I'm certain that this is a problem of my S24Ultra . . . because this just began about two months ago (after several months of normal), & when I attempt to text a photo to him directly from my Gallery, it goes to a text page with his name at the top---but with no previous texts. (He does not receive the photo text.)
So then I have to delete the photo; if I don't delete the photo, I then have 2 of his names in my text message list of who I text with---weird. He does not receive the photo text.

Can you check your husband's contact in the Contact app and check that the right phone number is still there and highlighted as the default? I wonder if the contact info when using the Share function is grabbing a different number/e-mail/entry.

Also, make sure that this is being shared to a Message and not a different contact selection (i.e. Open picture, select Share, select Contact with the Messages icon on it or select the Messages app and then go to the contact thread).

That is how I send photos to all other contacts---and used to do my husband the same way, but now doing that to my husband, the photo goes to a text page with his name at the top---but with no previous texts. (He does not receive the photo text on his phone.) Then in my list of text contacts are TWO with my husband's name (but the one I tried to send the photo to contains no previous text messages---so I delete it).

What about the actual contact info (Contacts App, Contact for your husband's name)? If a conversation is duplicated in the messaging app chances are the contact is actually different. If you 'create' that second thread where your husband doesn't get the picture, and then, in that same conversation. use the Messages app menu to insert a picture (not sharing it through the Gallery app directly), does your husband get that second image? Also in that second conversation thread, if you tap your husband's name at the top, does the contact info that pops up seem OK (i.e. correct phone number, etc.)? Is your husband having issues with any other MMS/group chats or just the ones you are trying?

My husband doesn't get any text--picture or text message--through the 2nd thread; it's like the 2nd thread is dead. When I tapped his name at the top of the 2nd thread, instead of his phone number there was his (correct) email address. He has no problems with getting texts from other folks.
I've considered deleting his contact and then replacing it but I assume I'd lose all of his texts--some of which I need the info.

This is what I meant. Somehow the default contact info in the Share menu got changed from his number to his e-mail. Check his contact info in the Contacts app and make sure his phone is set to default, and when you use the Share menu, check that the option is to send to his NUMBER and not his e-mail.

THANK YOU with allll my old heart, SpookDroid, your default did it---after I've spent months trying various changes that did nothing to fix this!!!
