Some help please

I just ended up with a replacment hero from sprint. I flashed back to .5 and rooted with unrevoked. When I press and hold the Home button with the phone off and try to turn it back on instead of the htc boot screen I get a pic of a big phone with an exclamtion mark in it, and it is a paper weight till battery is pulled, same with the volume boot. Is there a way back into the old boot screen, or did they nerff it? thanks for any help you might have
