Some Odd Happenings re ROMS, Recovery and Themes

I posted this under the thread on Themes but it may be better to put it here:

I need some help but it seems to overlap a few different areas. I downloaded two different themes but cannot flash them. When I reboot recovery and I try to flash the zip files on my sd card it won't let me select them. If I push the down button it skips over the themes. I WAS able to flash an animation boot. Weird. I double checked and the theme zip files are indeed on my sd root.

Some possibly unrelated "issues":

When I reboot to recovery I get a black screen even with the newest version of Xionia. I use screen cast to see what's going on on my phone.

Some apps refuse to install for me.

When I go to manage apps and push "move to sd" it always tells me I can't, then I push it again and it does.

Any idears?

Reinstalling your custom recovery may be worth your time usually they are very stable before they are released but that doesn't matter if it doesn't download correctly so redownload it, check the md5 sum to make sure it downloaded correctly and redo the recovery installation procedure.

Should I restore my nandroid backup (created immediately after the custom recovery and before I flashed Reborn)? Then try again with Xionia? That seems to make sense to me.

Anything special/important I should know before I restore that backup?
