Hi all,

I'm new to HTC I've always used Samsung in the past so I watched some online videos on how to personalize it and I find I'm missing several settings and options. For example I don't have the 'transfer content from another phone' or 'activate lock screen options' or the ability to edit my app list page. It's really strange. I also don't have the 'people' app but have 'contacts' instead

Any ideas why this might be? Is there a setting I need to enable somewhere?

thanks.

Carriers push/install modified firmwares on the smartphones they sell. So did you bought it cash or on a contract with a carrier?

On my TMO stock 4.4.4 i see "Get content from another phone" right on the main settings page.
Its right below backup & restore on the main page.

My M8 has People and my Note 3 has contacts. Both running KitKat.
My nexus 5 on lollipop has contacts.
Its probably just a naming thing. As long as you have one or the other you should be good.

Some OEMs (manufacturers) will use the stock Google software, some will make their own and provide it with the phone. For example, Sense is the HTC user interface and it's different from the stock Google UI or the TouchWiz UI from Samsung.

The settings may be found in different places depending on the carrier as well.
