Some sort of "mass storage mode"?

When connecting to a computer via USB, my omnipotent Nokia N900 always offers me to choose between "mass storage mode" and "PC suite mode". The "mass storage mode" is very useful for file transfer between the two, because it maps both its internal and "external" storage as Windows drives (i.e. they get "letters" -- pretty much the N900 acts as a "flash drive" in this regard). "PC suite mode", on the other hand, is akin to what happens when I connect my Note II to the computer: it works with the "desktop" software, whereas within Windows Explorer, the storage shown is limited (and it's usually in the bottom section of explorer, which are external devices generally not accessible with other file managers, such as Total Commander). Also, file transfers are slower and timestamps are not preserved in either direction.
So, is there any way to also have some sort of a "mass storage mode" when connecting an Android device (especially Note II) to a computer?

Nope. I believe this is due to the jellybean operating system and nothing that samsung has specifically done. I just to "my computer" then choose my phone at the bottom. Then I open external sd card and drag that to the right side of the screen so it auto resizes for 1/2 the screen. Then I open whatever folder holds the stuff I wish to transfer in a seperate window, all drag and drop from here. Transfers a pretty fast too.

Unfortunately, this is an Android limitation now, not a device-specific flaw. For some (idiotic) reason, Google decided to remove Mass Storage mode from Jelly Bean up, so unless you root and apply a patch, you can't have that mode anymore. You can try using Kies Air (being in the same WiFi) or apps like Bump or PushBullet (I'm not sure that's the actual name, I can't recall...but it's something like that).

What patch are you talking about?
Yes, I already know and have tried many ways for file transfer (WinSCP with SSH server on the phone is by far my favorite); but I was looking specifically for something like storage mode (in some cases, it would come in very handy).

Since I'm not rooted, I can't really give you an option to restore Mass Storage, but I DO REMEMBER seeing that somewhere in the forums when I was searching for the very same thing. When I saw you needed to be rooted, I gave up (my company will deactivate certain apps I require for work if my phone is rooted ).

Although I wonder how Nokia N900 does it then... I'm not sure if it really cuts off the system its access to partitions when you connect it to a computer with Mass Storage Mode.

N9000 was originally Gingerbread; this mode was removed from Android from JellyBean up (4.1). USB Mass Storage DOES cut off acces; you either access the storage from the phone or from the PC, but not the two at the same time, which MTP does allow (albeit in a slower, not-as-pretty-or-useful way). Google claims this is why they did it, to allow apps to run more efficiently by no longer cutting of access.

Sorry, where can I find some patch for the mass storage? I have rooted LG E455, tried Mass Storage Toggle application, does not work.
