some thoughts about battery life issue

good to see LG helper here, just want to share my issue which I believe is faced by some other users as well

i have over 85% deep sleep, no wake lock, but battery draining like crazy, and it happens randomly. Normally I get very good battery like 20 hrs + with 5 hours screen on. I wonder if factory rest fixes the problem, or hardware issue

i have done a bit testing for this random drain,

with mobile signal on ==> huge drain
without mobile signal on and only phone signal ==> huge drain
airplane mode ==> no drain

so i believe it is a bug within the phone software, actually sometimes the random drain started after a phone call, please kindly help to fix this problem

Hi Mingyi,

We've not had any known issues reported concerning this. Certain entities can weigh negatively on the battery life of your phone at different times even. It would depend on apps running while not in use; it can still drain the battery.

If that is not the case, it could be a software issue as suggested. You may want to contact your carrier for troubleshooting this issue to be sure it is not the phone and just software related. ^CL

The Carrier IQ on the AT&T version of the LG G2 is a huge battery drain. By going into System->Apps and stopping the Carrier IQ service that runs under Android Service and then stopping the Android Service itself, battery life on this phone is phenomenal.
I don't mean to be rude, but LG can't NOT know about this. Please put some pressure on AT&T to either fix the service to not cause a wakelock or allow users to remove/stop the service completely. If people don't buy an LG G2, and go with Samsung instead, it is money lost from _your_ pockets.

Hi to all!

I'm Finnish G2 user and I have the international model. I have excatly the same problems as many other here in AndroidCentral.

I have noticed few things about the battery drain:

- GSM signal seems to be the cause of the drain
- Battery drains especially fast at night when there is GSM signal on (about 70 % in one night). Mobile data, wifi, bluetooth and google location settings don't make a difference.
- There are few weird wakelocks going in the background: audio_out3, surfaceflinger.
- Stock battery stats show most of the time the hog to be 'Android System', but sometimes there is also 'Android OS' with it.

As far I have tried to disable many programs as possible, I've done a factory reset, reboote the phone in different ways, but the problem really seems to be in the software and you cannot fix it on your own.

I used this phone for like a month with a great battery life and without other issues, but this problem appeared out of nowhere just two weeks ago.

If others could check if they have detected similiar wakelocks or other issues, it would be nice if they reported them here.

LG please fix this.
