something jamming headphone socket

Recently I have had problems inserting my headphones into the 3.5". Clearly there is something blocking it although I can't actually find anything while fishing about in it (FYI a watch strap pin works really well)

Part of me suspects the casing has actually moved possibly after a drop although I haven't actually verified this. Annoyingly it's only the last 3 or 4 millimetres that don't actually seat properly. Has anyone had any luck with extracting foreign bodies from the 3.5"
