I was just reading the news about Sony not using Android Wear for their smartwatches, and instead continuing to use their own system (although they haven't ruled it out in the future). To me this seems like a huge mistake. Android Wear, and the Moto 360 in particular, seem to be the first time people are actually interested in buying a smartwatch. Sony's offering is poor to say the least.

They need to start work on an Android Wear watch straight away or they will fall behind. Thoughts?

Sony not using the Android Wear is the least of their problems. They need a complete redesign so their watches look like watches and not toys. Sony has never been all that great at following standards, anyway, so it's not that big of a surprise.
