I've been keeping my eye on the Sony Ericsson Nozomi (codename) for a long time, and it seems like some news popped up about the device today.

I've always loved Sony Ericsson phones, and an HD variety would make my day. Definitely a phone I'm keeping an eye on. This better come to the US! What do you guys think? Can't wait to hear more on this. This is honestly why I'm holding on to my upgrade - I want to see how this pans out...

Sony Ericsson Nozomi Is Now The Xperia Arc HD? Dual-Core, 720p Screen Coming Soon [Rumors]

Woo! :D

This is likely going to be the phone I get for a few reasons.
- sony make nice hardware, and I find more android manufacturers to make ugly phones.
- camera: sony put good camera's on their phones, this will hopefully be iPhone 4S quality sensor.
- 4.3 inch screen. Not a fan of the screens inching towards 5".
- 720p

What worries me
- what is sony's track record for releasing OS updates? (I am new to android)
- sony laptops comes with tons of ty sony software. hopefully not their phones.
- pentile amoleds and lcd - don't like either. this will likely have one of them. Non-pentile amoled would be killer.

At 1.5 dual-core and SE using Snapdragon in the past, this might be the same SoC as what is in the AT&T Skyrocket, would that make this an LTE device? With SE's latest commitment to the dev community (handing out free phone to a few devs) I would say now is a good time to buy the newer Xperia line. Another thought worth mentioning is Sony is in the process of buying out Ericsson, something to do with not in agreement on certain things. I could see less disagreement, equals a possible quicker release cycle, less red tape. The Arc HD looks like a good phone, I am waiting for a solid HD device (Build Quality, Hardware and Software) to come to AT&T.

I hope something like this comes to verizon with lte. Sony makes good phones and have gotten a lot better recently with updating their phones.

I suspect I'll buy unlocked, especially since some Sony phones take a while to come to NA. Plus I hate contracts. Dying to get rid of my iPhone, but can't seem to find any Android h/w that beckons to me. Hopefully this will be a gem in the hand, as it is the only Android phone or, or on the horizon that has really nice looking hardware, and doesn't feel cheap and plasticy. If you know of an other, I'd love to hear about it.

same boat. my jb iphone is good but slow (3GS), and i need real google integration that i dont have now. but the hardware is changing now. i think its worth waiting for CES and next quarter to see the next gen.
