Anyone else notice that every so often the watch gets hot and drains battery until a reboot?

Had couple times in last 2 weeks. I even disabled GPS and same issue.

Got the latest OS on too.

Yep. Mine too. If you head over the Google+, we're far from being alone. It had actually had been fine for 2 days until last night, when it went from 50 to 30% in 35mins.

You're right - a reboot does solve it (temporarily). I charge overnight though, and the drain seems to happen in the evening, so, by the time I notice the plummet in battery, it's often too little, too late to reset the watch as it's already down to a few %.

I've un-installed & re-installed, rebooted, reset, stopped GPS, stopped Wifi and so on - no luck. It's certainly an issue with the recent update IMO.

As an aside, before the update I would drop between 2-3%ph, and now it's more like 4-5%. This is fine as 20hrs is more than enough, but the 5.1 update has brought nice new features, but at a price. Hopefully they'll get a solution out soon.

I have the same issue since the last update. I tried everything :
- wifi, gps off
- uninstall every specific app (wear mini launcher ...)
- factory reset
Nothing works.

My smartphone is a Nexus 5 (Android 5.1.1). I will test this week with my nexus 7 2012 (Cyanogen 11).

I've been having the same issue for the last few days. However my nexus 5 (5.1.1) took a dip in San Pablo Bay yesterday so now I'm without a phone and it's still getting hot and draining the battery like crazy. Before i lost my phone, my SW3 went from 53% to dead in 5 hours the other day when that amount of charge used to get me pretty much a full day. Also running uncomfortably hot at times with nothing running. Getting a new phone tomorrow (Zenfone 2) so we'll see if that helps at all.

I too have had this battery drain problem with my Sony smartwatch 3 since upgrading my Samsung S5 to Lollipop about a week ago.
I tried many suggestions over the last couple of days but the following appears to have fixed the problem for me:
After your smartwatch has completed charging unplug it and immediately do a restart of your smartwatch.
I did this for the first time this morning at 9am and now (at 8pm) my smartwatch 3 has 79% battery.
I found this on the web last night and I think it was a Sony tech guys advise.
I guess doing the restart after unplugging kills whatever the bad thing is that is causing this problem.

Yeah, a restart does seem to solve it.

TBH, I've restarted only when I've noticed the drain, so maybe restarting after unplugging is something to try.

Yes, the suggested workaround I found specifically said to do the restart immediately after unplugging the smartwatch3 after charging. I've done this a few times now and the discharge problem has not occurred.
Before finding this solution one of the first things I tried was a re-start and it didn't fix it so doing it immediately after charging appears to be the critical point.

Tried the immediate restart after unplugging this morning. See how it goes throughout the day...

Sorry to report that after about 4 charges using this work-around I've had a failure.
My Sony smartwatch3 had been running for about 24 hours and was at 50% charge. I went to my local pub for a couple of hours and checked my watch to find it was at 2% (so lost 50% in 2 hours). I had been charging at around 50% previously so maybe going below that level was the problem.

Ah. Shame.

I've been doing that for 2 days (and this morning) and it's been OK so far. That's not say it won't happen again though.

I'll keep doing the post power re-starts as it does appear to work most of the time. Hopefully a proper fix is on the way.

I've been doing the watch restart every morning immediately after taking it off the charger at 7.30am for 3 weeks now, and I've not had one instance of rapid drain since.

Still, it should be sorted out, regardless, but it's no big deal as long as it stay like this.

This is from Sony and its been working fine since I did it.

Could you explain this a bit further please? I've downloaded Sony PC Companion but am unsure where to go from there. There is nothing about a repair update in the app as far as I can see. Thanks

Open the Sony PC Companion

Click on Support Zone

Click the start button under Accessories software update

Wait for the preparing software update to finish

Click on SmartWatch 3, and click next

Connect your SW3, and its going to say that your system is up to date (most likely) and if your experience problems reinstall software.

Click yes and when its finish it'll tell you to unplug it.

Power it off and charge it for 4 hrs.

It took me 3 tries but my watch works as it was intended to now, so just be patient and redo it if it starts to drain again after a few days or weeks.

After I connect my SW3 I get an error telling me that there is no software available for my device. Do I have to download the latest version of Android Wear separately?
