Sony Xperia Z3 Hiding pictures in Sony album

All my whatsapp media is currently showing in my Sony Album and I can't seem to hide it. I used Quickpic to add .nomedia and I'm sure I have done it right as the whatsapp stuff doesn't show up in Google Photos any more and when I click on folders in Sony Album they are there but there is nothing to display. However, the actual Home/Camera Roll bit of the Album itself still shows them. I selected them and pressed "Hide" but this didn't seem to do anything. Any ideas?
