I'm a phone junkie... I've had all kinds of them, from the old razor, to the Iphone 3GS.. However, my most recent devices were there Eris ( before it got the 2.1 update) and the Storm 2.

I am just wondering what I can expect differently from the Droid?

I know the browser will be better, apps probably be more plentiful..

What else?

The keyboard will make texting a lot easier for you. It does take some getting use to though. The screen is amazing, and the pinch to zoom in the browser is awesome in 2.1. I'm really sure you won't regret switching to the droid. I had all the phones you mentioned and love my droid.

Not one inch of regret buying this phone. The keyboard bumps up as you use it and the screen is flawless. I just can't wait to get my seidio case and holster combo :) Droid<3

I just met the guy who I did the trade with, setting up my droid now. He had it rooted which is nice because I was going to do that anyway, so it saves me some time. Do the keys get easier to use as time goes on? so far I seem to find myself liking the on screen keyboard more. Also, is there an Opera mini for the droid out yet? The guy that set up the swap for us at Verizon actually had the eris but was a little envious that I was getting the droid. So, now that I have it in had, what are some must download apps I should get on here pronto?

Edit: I've tried to load car home in my house but it keeps fc on me. Can it tell it's not hooked up to a car dock? I just want to try it out!

Okay I'm confused... I'm not 100% up to speed on the world of root, but I think I am running the old software here.. I may need to take off the root to get 2.1 when i look under firmware version it tells me 2.01 build number droidmod 164 (1.0) kernel verzion 2.6.29compacache06_unuonsfs253_sholes-omap1-hg383babcb-dirty.

Does this mean I'm running 2.1 or not??

Ok so now I know im on 2.0. I'm trying to get my droid back to stock so I can get 2.1, then root it again but I cant seem to get the wipe to go through all the way.. ugh!

thats gunna be a slick device but i am still going to droid 1- i dont have an update to use for another 9 months. 2-im on a storm right now and cannot wait any mroe im so over blackberry

Yea cmon guys don't just blatently ignore the guy.
He even asked you not to hijack his thread. Show some respect.

The info you posted says that you have 2.0.1 installed
What I recommend doing (as always) is to download ROM Manager off the Market, then once installed, select the "Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery" and then once finished, go to the Stock Images section, then select the 2.1 WITH root etc.
It'll install everything and all you'll need to do is reactivate (which is easy, as it does it by itself).
Honestly the easiest way to get it working.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, make sure you select the both Backup and Wipe data/cache option when/if shown.
Just to be safe.

Jorge, I'm now running stock.. I just decided to start over, but I've got it on 2.1 at least. So, where do I go from here?

I'm not at home right now, but there's a way to do it.
I'm sure someone with a little more time can do help you.
Until I get back home, I can't help much.
Give the Hack/Rom section a good read.
