Sooo my 2 year old just drowned my 3 day old S4.

Well all I booted it up tonight and seems to be working fine. I tested everything and for now at least it's fine. If that changes at some point I'll use my insurance and get a new phone. Lol oh and Mr Willie, I didn't let him do anything. He accidentally knocked over my coffee cup which unfortunately was full and sitting next to my phone :-/.

Yay! I'm relieved for you.

I believe someone here said that toddlers are like mini ninjas - they're too quick to catch sometimes! I'm sure you didn't "let" him do anything - with kids, stuff just sometimes happens! ;)

Omg yes! He's definitely a mini ninja, lol. Definitely lesson learned though, liquid and my phone are not friends and shall never be close again!

A friend of mine went swimming with his Samsung Galaxy Ace in his pocket. After 10 minutes he realized he had the phone with him. I disassembled the phone and let the parts dry under a warm light with a fan for 3 days. That was last july and the phone is still working perfectly since then.

So you should be ok if it works now IMO.

I had less chance with a HTC Desire(almost same story), it came back to life but the touchscreen doesnt work.

WTG Samsung !

Kids are magic. They can get into stuff you would never believe they can. They are like that octopus they show on Discovery Channel a lot, that figures out how to get stuff it wants then makes itself whatever shape it needs to be to get it. Except since kids have, you know, bones and stuff it HAS to be magic. :) Child proof is impossible. Resistant maybe.

I've done the same thing. Put my GS4 in coffee. It was in it for about 5 minutes before my daughter bought it to my attention. It was face down and affected up till the camera light. It was in an otter box and I've taken it apart and put in a bag of rice. How long do you think before I should try to turn it on again? Glad yours started working again, hope mine will too.

Hairdryers typically aren't a good solution because they can push water deeper into the device. The heat also isn't good for it. But hey, if it worked, it worked.

But you CAN use a vacuum cleaner hose to SUCK a lot of moisture out before putting the phone in a bag/sealed bowl of rice. The suction won't drive moisture deeper like the hairdryer.

But you don't want the suction too powerful as it can damage delicate parts of the board

Idk I've dropped mine in the bathtub with an otter box no damage :) but I would leave it in for a day or so

I've spilled beer on my phone and it isn't working after I put it in rice for a few days. How long did yours take to start working again?
