"push" pop 3 email - problems with using google

everything i've seen for getting pop3 as push involves sending all inbound messages through google but then when replying it says google id on behalf of the othder pop 3 id. how does one get past that? also, it's not true push as it doesn't get it immediately, again sorry for elementary questions

A while back I read an article or some other missive on android central that explained how to get push pop3 emails without having google say google email on behalf of the pop3 account in the reply. I don?t remember how to do it and your current article has the same problem. Could it have had something to do with creating a "pseudo exchange server" to get push for the pop3 accounts???

You can't "make" a POP account push. By definition you have to poll a POP server. You can poll it constantly but you're still polling and not pushing.

You can approximate push by using an intermediate (gmail, for example) to poll the POP server and then push the mail. It's subject to the drawbacks you've already mentioned. If you want push mail then you need to use a push account.

The problem is that the reply says SENT by "google Account" on behalf of "the pop 3 account."

If you don't want that message to come out and want your emails push you have to use K9 Mail from the Market. I use it, it's not the best, but it does what the standard Gmail app can't.
