Sound issues on google pixel

[Android Central Question]

My pixel(original) has been working fine untill the past few weeks. The microphone only works during calls people can hear me fine on the phone however I can't access the Google assistant with my voice my videos have no sound and I can't record voice messages. Also unless the phone has just been powered on wired headphones don't work, and if the headphones are working after you turned the phone on, after about 10 minutes the volume keeps randomly turning down no matter how much I turn it up, or sometimes they just stop working altogether.
Can anyone help
I'm using Android 9.0
PS: the volume thing hasn't happened with wired car speakers.

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like a problem with the secondary mic at the top of the phone. Make sure it isn't blocked (e.g., by a case, or clogged by lint). Also, see if the problem persists in Safe Mode: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en

I'm having the same issue with the volume. I'll start watching YouTube or something like that, and after a minute or two, the volume decreases to almost nothing, while hitting the volume up button shows that it should be max volume.

Welcome to Android Central! I don't think that's the same issue as the OP -- what was described seems to have more to do with the phone's microphones. Your issue has to do with the media volume you're hearing. It might be best to create a new thread with your question, so as not to hijack this thread -- thanks!
