How can I stop my sound notifications from playing over Bluetooth and over my ear buds or when connected to my car?

I want to hear the notification coming from my phone. Right now if I am connected to Bluetooth, I don't hear anything. So because of that, I can't have my earbuds connected in the house. While I am driving I don't hear a notification either.

I know you can do that with GALAXY buds , maybe just enable call next to what your connected gear icon and turn media off

It's called Separate App Sound, and it's turned off by default. Turn it on and set your preferences.

This is why we buy Galaxy S. Does Pixel have features like this? LG? Moto?

Galaxy S also has a host of great other features. One of my favorites is wifi sharing, where the phone can connect to home (or hotel, or rental home) wifi and then share that out to other devices. You'd think that sounds stupid, but if the hotel or rental wifi requires login and verification, the phone can do that for you and then send that same signal out to other devices like Chromecast, which don't work with wifi that requires login credentials.

Adam, I tried this but it didn't work. Well at least not the way I set it up. I asked it to take my texting app and play the sound through my phone. My thinking was that my texting app makes the sound. Perhaps that is wrong?

I would think you're correct, but I've never had the need to use that feature. Hmmmm.

I have a skullcandy crusher anc that I recently paired. I only have the media sounds playing through it, all other notifications come through on the phone. I also allow phone calls to come through. I think after you are paired with Bluetooth, go into the Bluetooth settings. I think that is where I allowed or disallowed notifications and such. I'll take a look again, and post if I was correct or not. But I'm pretty sure that is how I did it.

I just took a look. When I'm paired I went to Bluetooth and hit the gear icon next to the connected device. It shows what I have set in the picture. I don't remember if I choose certain sounds during setup or not. And now that I'm thinking of it, since the headphone has active noise cancelation, I'm probably getting all sounds through the headphone. I do hear all my tones, so they have to be coming through. I also have the Galaxy buds and as stated above, I believe that you can choose which sounds come through. I think I got the two mixed up. Sorry about that. I believe on my sync infotainment system in my car, all sounds come through there also. It would be nice if Samsung would open the settings up a bit more for all Bluetooth devices and not just their own. Maybe in developer settings? I don't have that opened, so maybe someone else would know and chime in. Screenshot_20200403-170441_Settings.jpeg

astrodan - that was the solution! I found my earbuds on my Bluetooth, went into the gear (settings) and turned off the audio. Now the notifications from texts and that show up on my phone! Thanks.
