Verizon Galaxy S8 Sound on Galaxy

Hi. I just upgraded to my first galaxy phone yesterday. Besides for the incredible new features that I still need to get used to, I have a question on notifications. My old phone used to have a headset notification when my earbuds were plugged in, but the S8 doesn't seem to have that anymore. Is this normal?

And one more thing. Even when I have earbuds plugged in, notifcations go off through the speakers, which kind of defeats the purpose. Is there something wrong with my device, or is this just galaxy phones in general?

Welcome to the Samsung world and Android Central.

I don't use the included AKG ear buds. I use my Bose SoundSport Wireless and I get the audio notifications through both the speaker and the headphones. To get audio just through your head phones, you need to put your phone in silent mode. Audio notifications will then only go through your headphones.

I'm actually using Panasonic earbuds. I didn't like the earbuds it came with.
