Sound problems

Hi, I've just updated to Lollipop 5.0 and now there is no sound coming out of the speakers. I have also tried it with headphones and it still does not work. If anyone else has/had this problem, do you know how to fix it?
Does anyone know if it is a bug with the update?

I was using a third party equalizer, is evidently is not compatible with lollipop. I was getting some very distorted sound out of my speakers and I disabled it and everything is fine now. I'm guessing it will be updated soon and then I can start using it again.

Having same problem as original poster. No sound at all from apps, notifications, etc on Nexus 10. I had sound after Lollipop update, but lost it after first time I powered down and restarted after the update. Have fiddled with sound settings, restarted again, all to no avail. Suggestions welcome. Thanks

A few things. I think I experience something similar when after hooking my N10 to my UE Boom. Basically all sound stopped working. I believe a restart fixed it. I have also found out that some media playback software doesn't like lollipop. So if you are having issues with a video playback software it may need a update.

Just happened to me. Last night it ran out of power and died. So I put it on the charger. After an hour I booted it up, checked it was working and left it alone to charge. Today I took it off the charger and went to play a game- no sound. Adjusted the settings- nothing. Tried some other apps- nothing. So I rebooted it and now there is sound again.

In the over two years I have used the tablet, this has NEVER happened before, so it is certainly due to something with Lollipop/5.0. I am not using any third party mixers or anything. Bugs, bugs, bugs....

Since lollipop update the mic and sound stopped three times, after reboot it started working again. Have the Nexus 10 from when it came out and never had this happen before. Speaking to Google it seems there are other problems with lollipop.

I started thinking it was happening after I had Bluetooth connected and then disconnected I would get no sound but I haven't done a whole lot of investigation so it could just be a coincidence with the Bluetooth.

Same issue. Shutting down the tablet seems to fix it until the next time. Never been an issue until the lollipop update. How come there is no restart option? Shaking my head.

This is what happens to me.
If I turn on my N10 while it's charging there will be no sound in apps. Notifications will be fine.
If I unplug it and wait for a few seconds before turning it on, the sound will be fine.

Can you test these scenarios with your Nexus 10?

Hi ,
I have the same issue with the sound. I just did as you say and it works ok .
Now I have to say that I had to do a factory reset to have the nexus 10 working properly. The sound issue is minimal compared to all the rest.

I have no problem and am on Lollipop. Sound working fine, Except when charger is on there's some background noise, but I think the tablet always did that.

My guess is a rogue app causing the issue.

It has always done that, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear that you're having some problems. Are you sure a rogue app isn't buggering your sound?
I updated with the OTA btw. Still no sound issues apparent.

It is a well documented issue with the 5.0.0 update that is supposedly fixed with the 5.0.1 update. It only happened that once, and now that I have 5.0.1, I don't expect it should happen again (knock on wood).

My N10 has done it again since upgrading to 5.0.1. Again it was related to connecting to a bluetooth audio device.

After the .01 update the sound problem still exists, I have to reboot tablet to get sound to work, never happened before lollipop update and have tablet since it came out.
