Here's one that has me totally baffled...

I've set individual notification tones for SMS/MMS/Email - each different. HOWEVER, my Bionic ignores the settings and all notifications are the same one, and it's NOT any of the ones I've set. I've done a search in the forum to make sure I did it correctly, double checked the settings (individual apps and master settings), battery pulls, etc. Still the same tone. Fortunately, it's a nice one - but what am I missing here? :(

I've had some goofy things happen with sounds on mine as well. Somehow I tweaked a setting that makes the phone yell "Loss of Service" when I go out of coverage, and "Verizon Wireless" when I come back into coverage / right before my phone rings. I have turned these off in every conceivable place and they won't go away with reboots, battery pulls...

I am dreading the final step which is factory reset, as I just got my screens the way I like them. Hope you don't have to go this route either but it might work...

I think I can help you on that one ...

Settings > Sound > UN-check Roaming tone and Network lost tone. The Roaming tone is the culprit in this, I think, but both will drive you nuts. :)

hmm. that might have done the trick there... I just tried calling myself and no "VERIZON WIRELESS" before the call... wowowowowowowowowow thanks!

Were you able to solve your issue? Maybe have to do a factory reset...?

It appears (although I'm not sure) that the notification sound I chose for email alerts might have been corrupted. When I chose a diffent sound, everything worked well. Different notification sounds resulted for email and text messages - as they were set to do.

alright, cool, glad you got it working. Never heard of a corrupted alert file though - was it downloaded from the market?

I'm not sure where the file came from. It was just in the list. Anyway, it DOES appear this is the problem because I tried using that same notification tone with K-9 email app and the same thing haappened. Other notification tones worked fine.
