Souring on the gnex

I still want the Nexus but I have to admit that I am disappointed too. I keep telling myself to wait until I get to review it before I make an opinion. But I started to get disappointed when i heard about its specs compared to other phones that are out now. It was almost like Samsung had some spare parts laying around and decided to put a phone together and figured it would sell better with ICS. I hope I'm wrong though. The biggest sale for me and pretty much everyone is ICS and it being a pure Google phone.

I agree about the GS2. Verizon customers got the shaft. Classic bait and switch, but Verizon had even bothered to switch.

It's almost like VZW didn't want the GS2 competing against the Bionic. Verizon is committed to bloat and the Droid brand.

The funny thing is though they would have been able to bloat the sgs2 so I dont understand why they would pass on that when the razr was a month out and going to take some sales away from the bionic.

Anyone else souring on the gnex from vz? Iffy camera reviews, lagging on live wallpaper, low benchmarks (ics using alot of the resources), only 16gb on vz, battery reviews not encouraging. I wish vz got the s2, might be a better phone. Disappointed....

32gb on vzw, better benchmark scores than the s2, and a tester showed 11 hours battery from heavy usage and max screen brightness. Have you even read any of the reviews?

I'm still lined up to get the Nexus on 12/8. But if they push it back one more time, or we find out that because of their baked in apps that OS updates will have to come through VZ instead of Google, then I'm going to wait until CES and see what else is in the pipe. My Droid 2 still works fine.

Seriously VZ, could you have screwed this up any worse? I'm thinking not.

Not having flash upon launch (whenever that is) is a drawback but will hopefully be released soon after. Other than that it has to be the poor way that verizon is handling this phone.

@P3Droid P3Droid
WTF, Nexus is not delayed due to MyVerizon.apk or BackupAssistant, the phone is drop dead ready !!!

To me I've lost interest in this phone because of the hardware build - most reviews talk about the cheesy typical Samsung plastic flimsy feel of the phone. I have a Bionic now which is the best built phone I have ever had - it feels and looks substantial but isn't heavy or thick or hard to fit in your pants pocket. If you haven't looked at that go compare it to an S2. The screen on the Bionic is awesome, not the display, the glass. One swipe on your pants or shirt and all the face and finger grease is gone and the phone looks like it came out of the box. Absolutely no need for a screen protector. The RAZR, while not the Bionic build is very similar in its quality appearance and feel.

On the other hand the reviews rave about the improvement ICS brings over GB - SO I have decided I am not going to give up a very nice handset just to get ICS a couple months faster.

Could someone post the newest Panda tweets/shares? I'm not on Twitter and it seems his profile has gone private.

Yeah, I can't stand that plastic shell. It's hideous.

If you want to have a good reason to get a nexus then just look at htc's and moto's update schedules. You think the delay on the nexus is bad, just look at how long it took the Thunderbolt to get gingerbread

My thoughts exactly. I saw the same things when reading several reviews. People need to settle down. One person says their opinion and people run with it.
Everyone, do yourself a favor and read all the reviews out there and formulate your own conclusions.

I should have known Verizon would never give us a true Nexus device. This phone sounds more like the Droid Prime. Thanks for nothing Verizon. I give you $200 a month and you can't give me a single phone on time without your crap on it.

I absolutely hate Bionic's flimsy plastic back cover. It's Un-Motorola quality. When it comes to the back cover S2 is way better than Bionic's.
