Speaker cutout

The speaker cutout is 2 slits in the back of the phone. The middle piece between the 2 slits is raised. Is that normal or should it be flush?

Cool. I haven't had a samsung in a while so I wasn't sure. Anyone known the reason for it? Just out of curiosity.

I believe it's raised a bit in the middle to keep from dampening the sound output while still providing some protection to the underlying speaker.

It's raised so that if the phone is laying flat on a hard surface, the sound can still be heard without being muffled.
