Spec which is better Droid Ultra Maxx or HTC One?

MAXX: Huge battery, crappy 720 NONRGB AMOLED display...GRAINY IMAGE. Better signal strength, most likely.

HTC ONE: AMAZING 1080 SLCD display, loud sound. Notification LED. Not so hot battery.

I am deciding between a HTC One with a Mophie Juice Pack or a Droid MAXX.

Even though the HTC One will be big with the Mophie, it will outlast the MAXX...plus, I can load the Google Edition ROM onto it...so, there's that too.

I'd had phones with really crappy screens for a long time. In my book, anything NONRGB sucks (Galaxy S3, S4, RAZR HD, MAXX HD, etc). The Droid MAXX will be equivalent, unfortunately, to the S3:

I think I am in agreement with you as it looks like the HTC One for me...

When was the Motorola X phone revealed?

It was revealed next week. :)

But based on spec leaks, it doesn't look that great, especially compared to my One.

Not so hot battery ? Just because one device's battery last an hour longer than another's, it doesn't make the latter's battery not so hot. I get an excess of a day and a half with my use (HTC One) anything giving excess of 18 hours is great in my book.

Battery life is extremely dependent on usage. With my usage, the HTC One won't make it through a full work day. The MAXX HD I had was usually low when I went to sleep.

Rated at 19 hours on CDMA according to HTC. I believe the Note II is rated at 22 hours. A slight difference but still not a huge difference. I may be going with the HTC One this time around.

OK, but this pic is blown up about 100x from real life so the difference isn't going to be anywhere near what it appears there.
Obviously its enlarged to show detail, but it is noticeable at arms length.

I remember when people defended qHD PenTile...

Nothing beats uniform subpixels...nothing.

As a ONE user I can say it's close to being the perfect phone. If it had a larger battery it would be the perfect phone. The Maxx looks like a nice device but the display will be nowhere near as good as it is on the ONE. If I was on Verizon, I wouldn't even think about giving up my ONE for any of the new Droid's.

I guess its all about what people find important in a phone. I'd consider the One, but I refuse to give up battery size/life.

No it is not. The new droid phones have better specs and a different design.

Actually, they share the same processor and pretty much everything else except design, battery, and screen size.

This is a very tough decision. I'm looking to buy myself and my girlfriend a new phone because I just landed a new job which pays way more than my current but not enough to spend 700 on a phone outright. My girlfriend and I signed up on Verizon at the beginning of the year and I got a s3 and my girlfriend is almost done with her at&t contract that she is in. Anyways I'm probably going to buy the X phone, it has the same proprietary chip set that the new Droids have which are awesome. I don't care if it only has 720,my s3 to me has a beautiful screen. I have a friend that has an htc one and to be honest the screen is better, but not $300 better. From what I have seen on the benchmark scores the X phone is barely behind the htc one and s4. I believe it scored almost 19000 and the htc one scored 23000. Not enough of a difference to make up for double the price so I would recommend the X phone over the new Droids or htc one. If I could get any of them for free, it would be a much tougher decision. The Droid maxx is a beautiful phone, and the one is too. The extreme battery difference definitely makes up for the resolution. 720 is still hi Def, so in the end I'd say go with one of the new Droids. Also just to put this out there, I am almost certain since Motorola is google owned they will push out the newer versions of android way faster than htc which has a terrible rep for almost never updating their phones. I know Motorola had a problem in the past but that was before google paid billions for the company so it's almost common sense. They will get timely updates, comparable to nexus devices.

Its not an eight core CPU. Its a dual core Snapdragon S4 pro with quadcore graphics. Basically saying its an eight core processor is an attempt at confusion so people don't realize what kind of CPU they're really using. I'm not saying it won't be smooth or fluid, but the eight core thing is strictly marketing speak.

I agree. The marketing of the X8 system is meant to confuse.

I haven't had the chance to read into the technical aspects of the Droid yet. Is this going to be more powerful than the Note II performance wise?

My next phone will probably be HTC.
I usually upgrade for major improvements in connectivity speed, screen, overall performance, etc.
I typically move from one high end device to another. I have bought Motorola devices since I have owned Android.
Droid X, Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid HD. I can't see trading a Razr HD for an Ultra. Smaller battery, marginal upgrade in speed, less PPI on a larger display.

Too many "don't haves". It is not a high end device. I just may not be the demographic they are trying to sell to anymore. The majority of people don't buy the high end phone. They should, because if you have to keep it for a couple of years, you want something that will not be outdated. I tell people to buy the baddest phone available, when you are ready to buy.

That being said, I'll be jumping ship from Motorola on the next round to an HTC One (most likely) and I really don't like the build quality of the S4. The SD card is not removable. but the HTC at least comes in a 64GB version, hopefully on Verizon.
Anyway... Bye, bye, Moto........
