Hi!

I sent my phone to repair and I got it last week, I had factory reseted it of course.

Ever since I got my phone back there is an app that I don't want to update as I don't like the newer version but Play Store keeps auto upadting it even after unticking the "enable auto update" for that app.

I tried deleting data/cache of google play store and google service, wiping cache, but issue persists.

Before sending the phone to repair i didnt have this problem and I could use the old version of the app and it wouldn't auto update.

I also tried unticking "enable auto update" for another app just to try, and Play Store auto updates as well, so its not an issue of that app.

any suggestions?

thanks.

It's not being auto-updated through the Galaxy Apps Store, right?

Didn't see it in galaxy store , I've downloaded just got wait see if when next update, but I wonder if OP has play store to not automatically update on and if that would work

I've noticed it has happens with other apps too, I've downloaded the apk of an older version of "cccleaner" and disabled "enable auto update" for it as well.

This didn't happen before the factory reset, weird.

Also, the update of these disabled "auto update" app always happen while phone is charging

Ccclener. Why, oh why? Delete, clear the cache partition and reboot. Recheck auto update. Good luck.

So it's only apps that you sideloaded as apk files that get automatically updated? What about apps you installed directly from the Play Store?

I agree with methodman89, uninstall CCleaner and see if the problem persists. Although CCleaner had a good reputation for a long time in the PC world, it got tarnished a while ago: https://www.muo.com/tag/stop-using-ccleaner-windows/

I am going to try all that, first of all I disabled auto updates (for all apps) from settings and its not auto updating anymore it seems.

Then I will try enable auto updates back but disable it for this app I want the older version and for some apps I downloaded from Play store (that there is an update waiting to download) to see if they also auto update despite "enable auto upadte" being unticket.

If they do, I dont know what could be the reason. I disabled auto updates from Galaxy Store just in case.

I have it still on my phone and no auto update yet shows July 31 2020 last update to the app.

I've installed the APK of an older version (april 2020) thats why I don't want it to auto-update, as the older version is much better. I had no issues disabling auto update for this app and keeping the old version before but as you know my new mainboard wasn't properly linked to my IMEI and my phone had to be repaired, so after factory resetting this is happening, oh and they also flashed my OS.

Also I think this is happening with any app, not just this one, I am testing it and Ill update you.

thanks for your help

Ok , keep us updated.

Ok, it seems that if i disable auto upadtes (for all apps) from settings no apps get updated (not even that one).

There are some apps pending update now, like Calculator, Shazam, etc, I will enable auto updates back but I am going to untick "enable auto updates" for those specific apps.

If they all of them update regardless I think there could be a glitch with my Play Store, not sure.

I'm still testing this, but do auto updates happen when the phone is not in use and charging? Otherwise they don't seem to work for me
