Speech output, want to turn off

Hey everyone,

I have a new Pixel 2. I remember when I got it I could squeeze and ask a question and it would just return the search results, not read them aloud. Somehow the speech output has been turned back on again, however I have it set to "hands-free". The only other option is "on", only there is no off setting.

Any thoughts how to fix this? I find it really annoying. Thank you!
