the M 8 has the Google voice for maps but, does tis phone have speech to text for writing e-mails and texts? or do I have to download an app for that?
HOLY CRAP ! all this time right under my thumb! DOH! thanks will give it a go!I know on my keyboard there is a mic button, I just hold it long enough to activate the talk feature and then yap away. No special app required, do da man.
It requires network access to use. If my network is sketchy, it won't work. I also talk slow and try to articulate, otherwise the results are comical, or frustrating....meant to answer this post. i cannot get the phone to type what i speak. i see the micrphone vibrate when i speak, but it does not type anything? i looked it the setting bu there is nothing int there to help with the actual typing part, any ideas? thanks

Wow..A thread from a year ago and two phones ago...lol. Just tested and you're right. Ya got me! (Used to actually be the case, but I guess technology has advanced,,,) Enjoy your GS3.....No, mfreeland, Google Voice to Text does NOT require network access to use. (Unless there's something magically different between my phone and yours. Mine's a Galaxy S3. Yours?)
I do not have a dataplan.......ergo, no internet connection unless I'm using wi-fi..............either at home or in Macdonalds, etc...............but................
MY GOOGLE VOICE TO TEXT WORKS FINE DICTATING TEXT MESSAGES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.........SO, you stand corrected.
Voice to text does NOT require network access! (Let's stop THAT rumour right here and now!)
