A
Android Central Question
Hello everyone, first post here!
I have a S8+ that I've been using since around the time of its release, a little over a year ago. Up until now its been very fast and a pleasure to use. However, about a month or so ago it began to slow down. Specifically it struggles to load apps such as Chrome, YouTube, Netflix, etc. Usually, I can get them to load by closing and restarting the app. Sometimes they will not load at all and I just come back later. Basically any app that must connect to the internet. YouTube even struggles to load the thumbnails. All the apps launch themselves, its just the content they provide, YouTube - Videos, Chrome - Web pages. Navigating the phone itself such as the file system, media player, camera are still very fast and work great.
Anyways, I decided to do a factory reset as I know I've accumulated a lot of junk on it in a year's time.
But! the problems still persists even after the factory reset and possibly may have gotten even worse.
- It is updated to Android Oreo and the latest Samsung Experience.
- I've tried wiping the cache partition several times.
- I use most of the above apps on WiFi - I average ~250 Mbps up and down on my
home network so I don't think this is the issue (Note: other devices on the network
run fine).
- I've tired so called cleaner apps.
The only other thing to consider is that I recently moved to a location where I have terrible cell reception and data speeds (I haven't switched providers yet).
Would a poor data connection affect the app speeds? Why would it if I'm on WiFi?
I'm out of ideas and have never had this issue with other devices. Is this possibly planned obsolescence since the S9 has been released?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
