Split tunneling for VPN not working?

Hi,

I sometimes use a vpn to connect to the internet, and i need to still be able to connect to the local network at the same time. For example; say I want to print something, or even cast YouTube to my tv from my note 10 while using the vpn. I have tried turning split tunneling on the client aplication, however, it does not work. I have tried it with openvpn for Android and also with the native client aplication for the vpn provider. Besides turning the setting on the the client application, is their another connection i have to make? Any help would be appreciated.

This can be because split tunnelling is disabled on the target vpn server. Do you have it successfully working on other clients?

No i don't have it working successfully on other clients.

Let me add that I looked on the vpn's website. There is a client area where you can configure stuff, however i have yet to find anything i could change.

Are you using a commercial VPN provider or VPN from employer or client/customer? Some businesses and government agencies block split tunneling.
