Spotify and Running w/S3

Can someone explain to me how can I control Spotify while running with just the S3 streaming to my IconX headphones? When I'm in SHealth, it only opens the normal music player and tapping my IconX only plays the internal music player and not Spotify. Also, when SHealth announces my distance, Spotify stops and doesn't resume.
