I like many are looking at this device from a runners perspective; I want to leave my phone at home when I run. So the deciding factor for me is whether or not there is a Runtastic app? And whether or not there is a Spotify app? If anyone that has the device can answer these questions for me that would be great, and I'd appreciate it very much. Thank you in advance.

Thank you, I guess I could utilize Milk. How is everyone that is running with the Gear S tracking their runs?

Runtastic did not work on the Gear 2... dont seem to have any luck getting it to work on the S either.

Nike+ and endomondo are supposed to work. Haven't tested them yet. Also, the s health will work, but not sure I liked it on the Gear fit.

yep - fired up Nike+ and it works as it's a launch app. Have never used Nike+ but I'm assuming it is not as deep as Strava or Runtastic. Will try it out tomorrow for 8 miles and see what I get. I literally can not even get the Runtastic app to install ... I had it on my Gear 2 and apparently it still thinks I have it so will not re-install it.

Terrain, if you don't take your phone too please let me know if the GPS functions on the Nike+ app work for you.

I had the same problem trying to get runtastic to install on the gear 2. You actually have to go to the application manager on the phone and uninstall the runtastic for gear app from the phone. It will be available to reinstall on the S once you do that. Unfortunately, it does not yet seem that runtastic will allow for the standalone GPS. Hoping that the next update will fix this. I have not tried Nike+ yet, so please let us know how the GPS function works for your run. Also, I am a big Spotify user as well, did Milk work just as well?

Guys. Today I had my first running with gear S. I use it in parallel to my Garmin.
I tried the S health app and nike. Unfortunately both were not accurate compared to Garmin 610. I believe it will be corrected soon via updates.
My Idea was to sell the Garmin but it's not a good idea at this time.

What was off? The heart rate? Mine was pretty in line with my polar.

Garmin watch showed 5km, while Gear S with Nike 4.7km. After second run of 2km Gear S, now using S Health APP, marked 2.3 km.

Nike App installed in my Note 4 is very accurate, I think the GPS reception or Gear S app requires update.
