"Spring Cleaning" gmail help

I cleaned out my gmail email on my PC. It is reflected also on my iPhone but it is not reflected on my Nexus 7 tablet. It still have all the old emails on it. How do I get it to update?
My Nexus 7 tablet is wifi only and it is properly connected to wifi.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the Gmail app or the stock Email app? With Gmail, have you done a refresh by swiping down on the email list?

I'm using the Gmail app. I have pulled down to refresh and used Refresh in the menu.

I was going to sign out of my account in the Gmail app but I realize I don't know how to do that. I thought that might help. And then sign back of course

Open Gmail, swipe in from the left, tap Settings, then your email address. Is Sync Gmail checked there?

It was checked. I unchecked it, closed the app and then opened it again. Of course I got the error message that sync was not working. I turned it back on and refreshed the app. But still no joy.

Go to Settings/Apps/All, select Gmail, and Clear Cache and Clear Data. Then open it again.

@B Diddy: I have done as you instructed but still no change. **update** Turns out the error is mine. There are more emails to be deleted.
