So I just got an LG G3 yesterday and I came from an apple device. So I have noticed that the Sprint Connections Optimizer used a lot of battery and was wondering if I should keep it on or turn it off. What is your guys opinion?

In order to answer this we have a few questins for you...

1) Who makes it?

2) Does it work for you? Do you notice a stronger connection?

3) Is there a speed difference with it off and on?

Thanks!

The Sprint connection optimizer does nothing more than turn wifi on randomly to hope you're in range of a network it can connect to. It's basically Sprints way of trying to off load people to wifi.

You can turn it off under settings and then networks (I'm not fully involved with the G3 since it's new but I'd say look for something like mobile networks in settings) and you can disable it. I always disabled it when I had Sprint.

Ok thank you. I figured it wasn't something that was important.

As with any new phone, battery usage is skewed for the first few days as it settles in and us users are playing with it from dawn to dusk.
After that, keeping the Optimizer engaged helps reception and battery use drops to normal.
I kept it on with G2 and will keep is on with my also new G3.
Just my $.02

Mav.

I found that it really overheated my G2 so I turned it off. I have no issues with it on my tablet.

Hey Trina Whats up.. :)

If you decide to disable the Sprint Connection Optimizer makes sure you double check it any time you do a reboot.
I recall a device or two and the software magically turned it self back on after reboots.

Hey, Patrick.

I've been keeping an eye on it and it doesn't seem to be doing that.

Turn it off. It demolishes battery life on some phones and it will typically turn itself back on after an update.

I had to disable the connections optimizer. I use Waze on my daily commute to keep an eye out for speed traps. Every day on my way home, I would pass a certain Burger King, and Waze would be interrupted by a page showing the Terms and Conditions for Burger King's wi-fi that I never asked to connect to. What a pain.
