Well my laptop PC finally gave up the ghost yesterday. I was fortunate to get the Android 4.3 update thru Kies just before it died. I don't really have the funds available for repairs nor the inclination to replace it. I intend to try to use my iPad and Galaxy Note 2 as my only source of daily internet use and computing. Problem is, it appears one needs to have a computer to use Kies for future upgrades for my Note 2 if there are any. My question is, are there any work arounds for upgrades using Kies without a computer? I don't know why Sprint saddles us with Kies just like Apple saddles us with iTunes to do anything with the iPod and/or the iPad. Which is something else I'll have to deal with now I'm without a computer.

You could always wait till they insert the update into a rom and just flash the rom with cwm and rom manager
